How to register your R&D activities for the R&DTI
A new video is available to help applicants register their eligible Research and Development activities for the tax incentive. The video released by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources uses software-specific examples, though the process to register the activities is the same regardless of industry sector.
Research and Development Tax Incentive application deadline
If your company operates on a standard income year from 1 July to 30 June, the statutory deadline to apply for the incentive is within 10 months after your income period closes. Generally, this means you need to apply by 30 April.
For the 2021–22 financial year from1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022, the deadline to submit a registration application is 11:59 pm AEST on Tuesday 2 May 2023, which is the first business day following the weekend and a Monday public holiday in some parts of Australia.
Submitting your application
Applications can only be submitted through the RDTI customer portal. The portal will display the due date for your application once you start a draft application. You can apply earlier than 2 May 2023 if you have everything ready to go.
